S
tudents for Christ is an evangelical faith supported mission whose aim is to win, disciple and train college students to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through the vision of spiritual multiplication.
SFC came into being in 1986 when Navigator staff representatives Nick and Bev Nickels, along with a group of twenty college students at Eastern Kentucky University sensed the Lord leading them to form an independent disciple-making ministry with a renewed emphasis on university students and a fresh look back on the original vision, strategy, methods, and skills, used by Navigator founder Dawson E. Trotman and others.
Since that time, SFC has become a non-profit regional organization: Christian Discipleship Ministries, Inc., with college ministries in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Many of those students involved in 1986 are now full-time missionaries with various Christians groups around the world.
SFC staff and trained workers minister on a one-on-one basis and in small groups. They win people to Christ, following them up personally, teaching the fundamentals of effective Christ-centered living, and establishing them in the Christian life. Further training is given in how to personally introduce someone to Christ, how to lead effective Bible studies, how to develop life convictions from in-depth study of the Word, how to establish a new believer, and how to disciple others in ministry vision, skills, and methods.
We look forward to the plans God has for us in the future, trusting that the heart, vision, and methods used by Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul, not only can take place today; but that God will use a "little one to become a thousand, and a small one a mighty nation" (Isaiah 60:22).
